Ok Cowgirl announce second album Rhinestone Cowgirl

Brooklyn five-piece Ok Cowgirl have detailed their second LP, Rhinestone Cowgirl, and shared new track "Prepared To Lose", "a song about dealing with hardship," according to the band's vocalist Leah Lavigne.

The follow-up to 2024’s Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut arrives on 21 August via Easy Does It Records and like its predecessor was produced by Alex Farrar, whose recent credits include MJ Lenderman and Wednesday.

"Prepared To Lose" arrives with a video directed by Evan Murray and finds the group sharpening their signature blend of fuzzy textures and direct songwriting. Lavigne says the track came from a place of acknowledging life’s unpredictability. “This is a song I wrote about dealing with hardship,” she explains. “It’s a reminder that everyone has bad luck here and there. ‘I’m prepared to lose’ seems more pessimistic than my typical tone – and it almost felt uncomfortable to sing at first – but it just didn’t feel right to change it.”

Lavigne found the lyric empowering, a stance about “facing and accepting the unpredictable nature of the world”. The result, she says, makes room for “gratitude for the people we love and our small daily victories”.

The band has also announced three New York live dates: 8 May at Nightclub 101, 7 July at Union Pool, and a record release show on 22 August at Baby’s All Right.
