NODEGA emerge with debut single, "Quantify" and announce mini-album, Rot In Helvetica
New York's thrash-punk quintet NODEGA have emerged with the announcement of their debut mini-album, Rot In Helvetica, alongside the release of debut single, "Quantify".
Speaking of the new release, they declare, “Obey your Wall Street and Silicon Valley masters and continue ranking (and quantifying via number or star) every experience.”
Discussing the album, NODEGA state: “Kim Gordon once observed that the punk ethos is all about saying ‘No’. We wrote and played this set of old school capital P ‘punk’ high on the influence of old-school hardcore, skate punk, and early thrash but injected it with melody just to make sure to alienate the trad mohawk sect as well as the endless sea of post-punk copycats (most of which have nothing to do with anything resembling ‘post punk’ in spirit).”
“This album is an attempt to liberate the wisdom, stupidity, and joy of the teenage state of mind. Despite myriad flaws, the platonic Teenager has a very real and profound access to spiritual truth that one shouldn’t neglect. The pure at heart Teenager, for example, wouldn’t jump through imaginary hoops to justify or ignore state-sponsored genocide. They’ll just (loudly) say ‘NO!’," they continue.
NODEGA will celebrate the release of Rot In Helvetica with a run of UK shows starting at Manchester's YES on 23 July, culminating with a special showcase performance in London on 2 August at the Shacklewell Arms.
Rot In Helvetica will be released on 18 July via Chrysalis, and is available to pre-order now.
