Nicholas Krgovich announces Bruce Springsteen covers album, Boss Tape

Boss Tape will be Krgovich's first solo release since his 2023 album, Ducks, with his reimagining of Springsteen's 1998 track "Gave It a Name" arriving as the first preview of the collection of songs.

Boss Tape features eight renditions of songs from Springsteen's catalogue, and are performed by Krgovich on keys and vocals, alongside Julia Chien on percussion, Julia Chirka on bass clarinet and backing vocals, and Thom Gill on guitar.

Discussing the album, Krgovich explains: “On November 22nd 2024 I bought the single cheapest ticket I could find to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band right before the show. It was 258 dollars. I did the same thing on November 26th 2012 only I bought two and went with my little brother Mikey and they were 48 each. I feel like if someone whose music you love comes to town you just go if you can.

"A couple weeks went by after the concert and I was still in a Boss reverie. I had a show coming up and as per usual I didn't know what I was going to do so I decided "maybe I'll play all Springsteen songs and I'll do it with two Julias". The Julias said yes and one afternoon I learned 8 songs and made a quick recording of each of them as a guide for my bandmates. This tape is the keys and singing from that original sketch recording which a year later we finished by adding Julia Chien's percussion, Julia Chirka's bass clarinet and Thom Gill's guitar.
