Nell Mescal shares "Kissing the Ground", first new music of 2026
Irish singer-songwriter Nell Mescal has released her first new music of the year, the single “Kissing the Ground”, out today via Atlantic Records.
The track follows Mescal's third EP The Closest We'll Get, released last October. "'Kissing the Ground' is a song about feeling so anxious that you may never come
down to earth again," Mescal explains. "It’s about overthinking and
wondering how other people can remain so calm when you feel like you are
unravelling. I wrote it as a way of understanding myself a bit more
through the overwhelming thoughts that creep in."
The track has already been tested on the road, during her recent European tour supporting Sigrid. The past year saw her and her band play to thousands while supporting HAIM, as well as completing her biggest headline tour to date across the UK and Ireland. In between tour dates, Mescal has spent time writing in Nashville - music that will follow "Kissing the Ground" later this summer.
Live dates confirmed include MoMo Festival in Rotterdam on 18 April and Kendal Calling in Kendal from 30 July to 2 August.
