Natalie Bergman announces new EP, I Killed A North American Songbird

The EP follows Bergman's second solo album, My Home Is Not In This World, released in 2025. Opening track “White Oak” arrives as the first preview of the collection of songs, alongside a remix in which the song is reimagined by Kosta G.

The track also comes with a music video directed by Andreas Ekelund and co-directed by Bergman, starring Sandi Denton and June Tate of Rated Z Dancers, alongside Staz Lindes of Third Man Records' band The Paranoyds.

My Home Is Not In This World emerged from a period of renewal and rebirth. Following the birth of her son, Arthur, in 2024, Bergman's songwriting took on a new tenderness.

On I Killed A North American Songbird, Bergman shifts from the introspective grief, renewal and rebirth explored across her previous works, with her attention shifting to the natural world and its increasingly fragile existence. "This small collection of songs is inspired by the disappearance of the natural world around us — specifically the creatures that surrounded me while I was growing up, and their very obvious demise. Oaks, songbirds, salamanders, foxes," she explains.

"I started to think about how I have directly contributed to their destruction in so many ways. After accidentally hitting an Indigo Bunting with my pickup truck, I made a series of blue/indigo paintings which inspired the music for this EP. It's a direct plea to myself to continue to take care of the earth and all its inhabitants."
