Nas has announced a surprise album drop to celebrate his 50th birthday
Nas has announced that his second Hit-Boy-produced Magic album will be released tomorrow (14 September) on his 50th birthday.
The original Magic album was released in 2021 and featured a collaboration with A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier. Nas and Hit-Boy have released six albums in four years, including two trilogies and a Grammy win for Best Rap Album in 2020 for King’s Disease.
Yesterday on his socials, Nas revealed that the third and final instalment of the Magic trilogy will drop tomorrow, less than two months after Magic 2 was released. The album featured guest appearances from 50 Cent (“Office Hours”) and 21 Savage (“One Mic, One Gun”). This will also mark the end of his collaborative tenure with Hit-Boy.
“I want to thank everyone for taking this ride with hitboy & I,” he wrote. “It’s been nothing short of Magical!” Shortly after, Hit-Boy confirmed that it will be their final drop, writing: “Nas is dropping his last Hit-Boy produced album on his 50th bday this thursday. Magic 3. Those are tears of joy btw. thank you to any and everyone who has listened and supported the movement.”
The pair first worked together on the Grammy-winning 2020 LP King’s Disease and promptly followed it up with two sequels: King’s Disease II and King’s Disease III. Later this month, Nas is set to embark on the North American leg of his joint NY State of Mind Tour with the Wu-Tang Clan.
Magic 3 is set for release tomorrow (14 September).
