Mount Kimbie's temporary art installation in central London destroyed by strong winds
A new art installation by Tom Shannon for Mount Kimbie in Tottenham Court Road was swept away by strong winds on Monday night (31 October).
The Four World Set by Tom Shannon was unveiled on Monday (31 October), and was due to stay in St Giles Square, Tottenham Court Road until Saturday (5 November), but the temporary art installation in support of Mount Kimbie's MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning album was swept away by storm Claudio, resulting in four oversized chrome orbs rolling down the street.

On Instagram, Mount Kimbie's Kai Campos wrote, "Heartbroken to report that the extreme winds in London last night took down Tom’s beautiful Four World Set."
"Seeing it completed on Sunday night was one of the most exciting things I’ve been involved with," Campos continued. "The fact that it was so out in the open and public was one of the best parts of the work and when seeing the joy and intrigue it brought to everyone who walked through the square. It felt like it had a life of its own and one that was just getting started. I’m absolutely gutted that more people won’t get to see it this week."
He added, "Trying to take the positives from the experience and I will certainly always remember the feeling there on Sunday night. I’m really glad I went down to see it last night as well, was really great and people were still approaching it even as the rain came down. We of course had prepared for bad weather and strong winds but just got really unlucky last night. It was amazing, but too brief."
MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning is a double album with each member producing one side of the record. Die Cuts is produced by Dom Maker, while City Planning is produced by Campos. It'll follow Mount Kimbie's 2017 album Love What Survives, and will feature collaborations with slowthai, James Blake, Wiki, Choker, Nomi, keiyaA and more.
Mount Kimbie's MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning album will arrive on Friday (4 November) via Warp Records, and is available to pre-order now.
