Mori details debut album El Niño Bola with new single featuring AMORE
Madrid-based artist Mori – a key figure behind label and avant-pop collective Rusia-IDK – has revealed his debut album El Niño Bola, set for 13 February release alongside a new collaborative single, “I Feel Good,” featuring fellow Spanish musician AMORE.
The track follows Mori’s co-direction of the visual film for AMORE’s 2023 debut. In a statement, Mori frames the release as a personal bright spot, explaining, “Everything is so shit lately in the world… you have to find the ways in which you can feel good in spite of it all. For me, at least today, releasing this song is doing it for me.”
The forthcoming 16-track LP is described as a deliberate embrace of raw expression over technical polish, and is produced with close friend and El Royale collective member Roy Borland, with a diffuse set of influences spanning Arthur Russell, Suicide, and Cody Chesnutt.
“What really shaped the album was the decision to put emotion above everything else,” Mori explains. “Above perfection, above control, above the idea of what a song should be. Many of the vocals were recorded in a single take because it mattered to me that I was truly feeling what I was saying.”
Operating under his given name, Martín Moreno Rivera, Mori first gained attention in Spain’s bedroom pop scene with his 2020 single “q no" and has worked alongside Best Fit favourite TRISTÁN! under the alias Fomotrauma, with creative direction work for artists such as Ralphie Choo and Rusowsky.
