Montreal duo Yoo Doo Right confirm new album, Build and Rest by the Shepherd’s Light
Yoo Doo Right have announced their new album, Build and Rest by the Shepherd’s Light, and shared lead single, "Doldrums, Doldrums, Eviler Than the Devil".
The album follows the duo's ongoing exploration of post-rock and krautrock, and was recorded at Hotel2Tango and Error 403 in Montreal, mixed by Seth Manchester at Machine with Magnets, and mastered by Amar Lal at Macro Sound. Today, they introduce the record with their new song, "Doldrums, Doldrums, Eviler Than the Devil", which draws equally from both genres.
"We were just regularly fooling around with the idea of layering the drums in 4 and guitar in 5 time signatures, respectively," the band explain. "This fun exploration birthed this song. This song has been a staple live for a while."
Build and Rest by the Shepherd’s Light sees Yoo Doo Right addressing the hardships of creating and being an artist, with features from guest musicians Jessica Moss on violin and Francis Leduc-Bélanger on trumpet and flugelhorn, while co-producer Ky Brooks contributed a spoken-word poem.
Yoo Doo Right will tour Europe this autumn, including a run supporting SLIFT across the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and France, alongside appearances at Left of the Dial in Rotterdam.
