“For this one, I turned off my filter and just let it all happen": Modest Mouse to return with first album in five years, An Eraser And A Maze
Modest Mouse have announced their upcoming album, An Eraser And A Maze, and released their new single, "Picking Dragon’s Pockets".
An Eraser And A Maze will be the band's first release on Glacial Pace Recordings, the imprint of lead singer Isaac Brock, following over two decades on Epic Records. Opening track "Picking Dragon's Pockets: follows previous single "Look How Far" as an anthemic take on a self-destructive world.
Immediately after releasing their 2021 album The Golden Casket, Modest Mouse began working on the songs that would form An Eraser And A Maze.
“For this one, I turned off my filter and just let it all happen," Brock explains of the album. "Thoughts, emotions, feelings, all that stuff … you're like the soup, and it’s not always easy to pick out the ingredients. I don't dwell on things much. I don't grieve much. I'm not sure I'm a person. I feel like I should have more feelings than I do. But then, you know, I'll sing stuff. And I'm like, Oh, there it is. Oh — it's in there.”
