MJ Lenderman and Wednesday/The Wind bandmates lend a hand on Colin Miller's new record
MJ Lenderman and some of his bandmates from Wednesday and The Wind will appear on the new record from Asheville, North Carolina musician Colin Miller.
Miller - also a member of Lenderman's live backing band The Wind – played on last year’s Manning Fireworks and now Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis and Ethan Baechtold are returning the favour for Miller's second album Losin’.
Due on 25 April via Mtn Laurel Recording Co, the record is themed around the impact of grief on the psyche, captured on the lead single "Cadillac." Gary King – who owned the house and studio where Miller, along with members of Wednesday, lived for years – was a father figure to Miller. As his health began to decline, Miller adopted a caretaker role which meant going to the main house where King lived to give him haircuts, watch NASCAR races, bring groceries, and supervise him as he insisted on smoking cigarettes close to his oxygen tank.
King passed away in July 2022 and Miller stayed in the house for two more years and wrote the songs that would become Losin'. In the spring of 2024, the property was sold, likely to be torn down for development.
The record was made with producer Alex Farrar at Drop of Sun Studios; Farrar also recorded Lenderman and Wednesday's recent albums.
