Missouri punk rio Radkey announce self-recorded LP Bedroom Sand, share “Ready To Burn”

Isaiah, Solomon, and Dee Radke were homeschooled on their dad’s punk and metal collection in a tiny pink house in St. Joseph, Missouri before forming Radkey back in 2010. After years of label turmoil – a contract that disappeared when their label was bought out, a publishing deal with a crypto entrepreneur who vanished, and tours booked by an agency that left them with $250 a night – Radkey have taken full control. Bedroom Sand arrives entirely self-released and was made with the help of a like-minded professor who granted them after-hours access to the university’s state-of-the-art facility.

The band said “Ready To Burn”, the album's lead single, was written with the live show in mind. “We were thinking a lot about fun live songs for this record. We got the idea for this bouncy sing along type song about being a nostalgic nerd growing up on the road. Staying up watching movies, playing video games and writing about the things that we love. We got a lot of fun references in there.” The track namechecks the RPG Pillars of Eternity, the Pokémon anime, and even works in the phrase “Bound for the Floor” from alt-rockers Local H.

Radkey’s reputation as a must-see live act has earned them co-signs from Foo Fighters, Jack White, and Rise Against over the years. They recently hosted their fourth annual RadFest in Kansas City and have a run of Midwest dates throughout the summer, including stops in Lawrence, Chicago, Rock Island, and Manhattan, Kansas. Further shows are expected.
