Minor Conflict announce new EP, Residents

21 October 2026, 15:24 | Written by Kayla Sandiford

Bristol post-punk band Minor Conflict have revealed plans for their upcoming EP, Residents, and shared new single, "Surveillance Operator".

Residents lands as the band's third EP, following 2023's Bright Lights, Dead City, and Parallels released last year. The EP was produced by Ali Chant and recorded at Real World Studios, with "Surveillance Operator" landing as the first preview of the collection of songs — featuring Squid's Ollie Judge on drums.

"When Ali invited us to record at Real World, 'Surveillance Operator' was just an early sketch and had no lyrics," the band say. "In the weeks leading up to recording, we quickly developed the song and enlisted our ever-dependable friend Ollie Judge from Squid, who provided a propulsive motorik beat. Josh and Natalie then wrote lyrics exploring the relationship between seeing and being seen, influenced by the 2006 film The Lives of Others."

Described as the band's "most immediate and dynamic" work yet, Residents also features contributions from PVA's Louis Satchell, expanding their sound with dance-inspired energy.

Minor Conflict band have spent time developing their live presence with performances at Glastonbury, Green Man, The Great Escape, Left of the Dial in Rotterdam and Ritual Union, alongside support slots with Squid, Horse Lords and Pozi. Ahead of the release, they are set to perform at Simple Things in Bristol on 7 November, headline The Sebright Arms in London on 28 November, with a post-release show at Rough Trade East scheduled for 18 February 2027.
