Minneapolis trio Prize Horse sign to Closed Casket Activities and share new single
Minneapolis-based grunge-emo group Prize Horse have signed to the Troy, New York-based hardcore label Closed Casket Activities and shared a new single called "The Big Picture".
The song is the first the band wrote for a forthcoming unannounced record, whose demos date back to 2023. In a statement, they said it marks “a step into a darker, more brooding environment compared to Under Sound”, their 2024 debut album, and ends with one of the heaviest sections they have written.
Prize Horse debuted in 2021, followed by the Welder EP in 2022, and Under Sound in 2024. They have shared stages with Superheaven, Glitterer, Greet Death, and Chat Pile. They join a label that is home to Regional Justice Center (the band Ian Shelton played in before forming Militarie Gun), Age of Apocalypse, The Body, and many other generation-defining hardcore bands.
The band are currently on tour in the US before EU and UK shows in December – with Spite House – including London’s New Cross Inn on 15 December, Bristol’s Exchange on 16 December, Leeds’s Hyde Park Book Club on 17 December, Manchester’s The Deaf Institute, The Lodge on 18 December, Nottingham’s The Chapel Nottingham on 19 December, and Glasgow’s The Hug and Pint on 20 December.
