"The world is full of so many amazing creatures": Million Moons detail conservation concept LP You Be Good, I Love You

London post-rock band Million Moons have announced their third record,You Be Good, I Love You, which centres on biodiversity loss.

The album title references the final words of Alex, an African grey parrot who learned to communicate with researchers during a decades-long study. The band’s guitarist and composer Edward Thompson, who works in marine conservation, initiated the concept as a response to habitat destruction caused by human activity.

“The world is full of so many amazing creatures, and it’s truly sad what has happened to their habitats as a result of human activity,” Thompson said.

The record was produced by Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton. Johns has previously worked with Rolo Tomassi, Slow Crush, Employed To Serve, and Loathe.

“We had such a great experience working with Lewis on our last record, coming back to him for album three was a bit of a no brainer,” Thompson added. “He knows how to get the best out of us, and we always have such a nice time hanging out together.”

The band have also released a new single, "Last Days Together". Thompson wrote the track while in Orkney following the death of his Labrador, Ralphy, who had been adopted from an animal sanctuary. “The original working title was ‘It Rained A Lot’, which I think sums up the kind of mindset I was in at the time,” he said. “We don’t know exactly how old he was when we got him, but his previous owner had kept him chained to their front porch for years.”

The single follows "Black Sun Rising", released earlier this year. Million Moons have also confirmed UK album release tour dates for late June and July, plus an appearance at Leicester’s Crowded Festival on 3 October. Pre-orders for the album open on 22 May, with a Chinese release via AnGoal Music and associated tour dates to be announced.
