Mike Love and Al Jardine share tribute to late Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson
Yesterday (11 June), the family of Brian Wilson – co-founder of The Beach Boys – had shared the news of his passing aged 82.
Wilson co-founded The Beach Boys with Dennis and Carl, his brothers, alongside their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. One of the band's lead songwriters; he penned some of their biggest hits including "Surfin' USA", "Good Vibrations", and "God Only Knows".
"Brian Wilson wasn’t just the heart of The Beach Boys—he was the soul of our sound. From the first time we sang together as kids in my living room, I knew there was something otherworldly in him. His musical gifts were unmatched. The melodies he dreamed up, the emotions he poured into every note—Brian changed the course of music forever," shared Mike Love in tribute to his cousin.
"I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were," shared Al Jardine in his own post. "I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again. You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever. Brian, I’ll really miss you…still I have the warmth of the sun."
Brian Wilson was the last surviving of the three brothers who made up The Beach Boys.
