Memorial join forces with Niamh Regan on second OPIA Community release, "Rest (& be thankful)"
Brighton duo Memorial have released "Rest (& be thankful)", featuring Irish singer-songwriter Niamh Regan, their second release on Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community.
"Rest (& be thankful)" follows "Teeth" released on OPIA Community last month. The inspiration for the song came about when Jack Watts, one-half of Memorial, visited a valley in Scotland called Rest and Be Thankful, but it all came together in a session with with Dan Rothman (London Grammar) and Seth Tackleberry (Holly Humberstone), with Watts on guitar, Oliver Spalding on drums, and vocals from Regan.
Speaking about the track, Memorial share: “Emotionally, it reflects a time when we were riding a chaotic wave. That energy carried into everything: feeling like we were pouring everything into music without having anything tangible to show for it, and the exhaustion of everyday life blurring into it all. The song feels like it arrived gently but carried everything we had been ignoring. Only after finishing it did we understand its meaning. It became a reminder to trust your intuition, even when you feel uncertain.”
"Rest (& be thankful)" is out now on OPIA Community
