Meg Baird shares new cut "Star Hill Song"
Meg Baird has unveiled her new single "Star Hill Song" as the second preview of her forthcoming solo album Furling.
Last month Baird announced her first solo album since 2015, Furling, with the lead outing "Will You Follow Me Home?", and today (15 November) she's shared a second single titled "Star Hill Song", which is teamed with a video created by Baird.
"I’m neither a person who knows how to make films--or sew--but creating this homespun video felt very much like getting lost in a freestyle needlework and quilting project," Baird says. "I often think that music is a place where we can literally "put" or "save" things when there is no other space for them. All of the images I’ve stitched together here were squeezed from a sorely dying phone camera in my attempt to add life and flicker to them. And while they are images that mean a great deal to me--captured with eyes looking up close at things with love, care and devotion - I hope they leave plenty of open space for moods, thoughts and stories of your own."
Furling will be Baird's first solo album since 2015's Don't Weigh Down the Light, although she did collaborate with Mary Lattimore on Ghost Forests in 2018.
"Star Hill Song" is out now. Meg Baird's Furling album will arrive via Drag City on 27 January 2023, and is available to pre-order now.
