Terry Marshall donates £100,000 to protect UK grassroots venues
Terry Marshall, the co-founder of Marshall, and his wife Lesley have pledged £100,000 to Own Our Venues, supporting grassroots music venues through community ownership.
Their donation supports MVP's latest £3 million fundraising round, which is aiming to secure seven iconic venues across the UK. Launched in 2023, Own Our Venues has already raised over £2.88 million to protect five local venues from closure.
"Small venues have played a vital role over the years in my long career as a professional sax player... But so many have closed their doors since I first started out at the age of 14. "
MVP’s COO Matt Otridge called the gift “leadership,” urging the wider industry to follow suit in backing the spaces where artists get their start.
