Man/Woman/Chainsaw play a dementedly beautiful stripped-back secret session at End of the Road
London’s buzzy young sextet Man/Woman/Chainsaw, heralded for their sonically intense live shows, close The Line of Best Fit’s Piano Stage on Friday at End of the Road Festival with a Lola Young cover.
“I don’t think we’ve played this quietly before, and it’s not even that quiet,” quipped Vera Leppänen, one of three main vocalists in the band, which formed in London in 2021 and famously played over 100 shows before releasing any music. Their debut EP, Eazy Peazy, was released late last year.
Treating woodland wanderers to two unreleased songs, as well as certified fan favourite “MadDog”, the ensemble finished with an unexpected cover of Lola Young’s 2023 banger “Conceited”, complete with pizzicato violin from Clio Starwood.
Crammed shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the pink piano, Man/Woman/Chainsaw had the biggest Piano Stage crowd of the day and were Friday’s closing act, performing immediately after their main set in the rammed Big Top tent.
End of the Road Festival continues today with headline sets from Self Esteem, DIIV, and Viagra Boys.
Earlybird tickets for the festival’s 20th anniversary edition in 2026 will be onsale from Tuesday 2 September via endoftheroadfestival.com
