"It's a full circle moment": Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter duet on "Vogue", "Like a Prayer" at Coachella last night

Madonna returned to the desert last night to perform alongside Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella, 20 years since she debuted Confessions on a Dancefloor there.

After rumours swirled around that her the pop icon would pop up during the festival to perform new single "I Feel Free", it was actually during Carpenter's headlining performance on Friday night that Madonna rose onto the stage to perform the backhalf of "Vogue" during "Juno". “Have you ever tried this one?” Carpenter sang, before track cut to a “Vogue” medley, and the two sang the hit together.

The pair then played a never-before-heard song from Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II – that may or may not be called "Bring Your Love" - where they namechecked one another and sang "I know where the bodies are buried". Here's the full audio of that song.

"That you for inviting me on your show! What a gas!" said Madonna as the two joked between songs and Madonna delivered a (somewhat lengthy) address to the audience, plugging her upcoming Confessions on a Dancefloor part II. “No thanks needed, Madonna. You can have whatever you want,” the “Espresso” singer replied.

"20 years ago today I performed at Coachella," Madonna told the crowd, " and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dancefloor Part I to an American audience...it's a thrill tp be back 20 years later in the same boots and corset... it's a full circle moment"

"It's also the first time I've performed with someone shorter than me," she concluded, before Carpenter joined her on a performance of "Like a Prayer".

Earlier today, Madonna finally dropped "I Feel Free", the first single from Confessions II, due 3 July. The record pairs her with producer Stuart Price for record many think will replicate the success they had on Part I, which is generally agreed to be the last great Madonna album.
