Lutalo shares new single "Cracked Lip" and announces deluxe debut album

“This track focuses on a reflection of self. Noticing the shifts and contradictions of my ego. My self doubt and pride have both played off each other since I was young. I’ve always sensed an individuality complex within myself while having recognition of how ordinary I am as a human. Being in this continuous flux put me in a self-inflicted mental prison. This song is about acknowledging that imperfection, and striving to be the best version of myself despite it,” Lutalo shares.

Named after the St. Paul, MN school they attended on scholarship — the same school F. Scott Fitzgerald attended and famously dissected throughout his work — The Academy marked a period of re-invigoration and self-actualisation for Lutalo. The album contains humanising observations on class disparity, privilege, and more informed by their time as an interloper into the elite world of The Academy.
