London duo Lover1k sign to Underplay Recordings and share new single, "On My Own"

Lover1k is formed by DJ Alice Roberts and Lev Ceylan, who also produces in Ebbb and plays guitar in Butch Cassidy. The pair first met early last year within mutual music circles, and released their song "Liiiiights" as part of Slow Dance Recording’s 25th year compilation record, with "On My Own" arriving with elements of dancehall, hyper-pop and rave music, with additional production from Big Softy.

Speaking about the track, Roberts says: “‘On My Own’ is about how isolating it can feel to constantly be on the defensive as a woman. We grow up watching movies that make us feel like we’re going to meet someone who will think we’re the best person in the world (and treat us as such), but the harsh reality is we spend the majority of our young adult lives getting played. It’s become so normal for guys to love bomb the shit out of us only to realise that’s just part of their routine. This song is about being sick of it and knowing better.”
