Lizzo reacts to Emmys nomination: "I'M DOING SHOTS TONIGHT"
On the eve of the Creative Arts Emmys Awards Ceremony, Lizzo took to her socials to celebrate being nominated.
Back in July 2023, Emmys released its nominations for 2023 awards. Lizzo's Max original Lizzo: Live in Concert was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded). In the year prior, she dethroned RuPaul, whose Drag Race show had won for four years straight for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, with her own show – Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
Taking to her Instagram page ahead of the awards ceremony, Lizzo wrote: "OUT OF 100s OF CONCERT SPECIALS THE EMMYS CHOSE MINE FOR OUTSTANDING VARIETY SPECIAL— ITS AN HONOR TO BE NOMINATED TONIGHT WITH LEGENDS!" She took a moment to thank SZA, Missy Elliott, and Cardi B for being a part of the experience, and added: "IM DOIN SHOTS TONIGHT CUS WE ARE ALREADY WINNERS AND MORE THAN CONQUERERS".
