Lizzo becomes first person ever to play James Madison's crystal flute from the 1800's
Last night (27 September) Lizzo made history by becoming the first person to ever play the crystal flute gifted to US president James Madison in the early 1800's.
While in Washington DC for tour yesterday (27 September), Lizzo accepted an invitation to visit the Library Of Congress, and got to play a variety of flutes in the Reading Room and flute vault. Later that evening, Lizzo played Washington DC's Capitol One Arena, and representatives from the Library Of Congress brought out a rare crystal flute out for Lizzo to play onstage, which was once owned by US president James Madison.
The crystal flute was reportedly gifted to Madison to mark his second inauguration in 1813 by Parisian craftsman Claude Laurent, and according to Lizzo, she's the first person ever to play the historical instrument.
