Little Simz, Skrillex and more to feature on new Chase & Status album, Generic Everything
Chase & Status have announced their upcoming album, Generic Everything, and shared new single “Gone Too Far” featuring Debbie.
Generic Everything is said to mark a new creative chapter for Chase & Status, following their 2023 mixtape 2 RUFF, Vol. 1. The announcement arrives after the release of their recent single “Disgruntled” featuring J Hus and IRAH, with “Gone Too Far” offering the second glimpse into the upcoming collection of songs.
The album features a stacked list of collaborators in addition to Debbie, J Hus and IRAH, including Skrillex — following their surprise B2B set at Boomtown just last week — Little Simz, Giggs, D Double E, Blanco, Col3trane, Saam Sultan, Finesse Kid and Ledbyher.
“Generic Everything is about resisting the pressure to become the same as everyone else,” the pair explain. “In a world shaped by AI, algorithms and endless content, creativity is constantly being pushed towards what’s familiar, safe and predictable.”
“The cube is our symbol for that pressure; a place where original ideas are squeezed into the same shape,” they continue. “This album is about pushing back. Every song, visual and show is an attempt to break out of the cube and create something that feels genuinely different. The idea isn’t simply that creativity is trapped. It’s that it’s being forced to conform.”
