Lily Seabird unveils new single, "The Afterglow"

Lily Seabird has released "The Afterglow", the latest single from her upcoming album, Lightspheres on Their Way, due in October.

"The Afterglow" follows previous singles “Election Day” and “Portal to the Past". After hearing the news of the death of folk legend Michael Hurley, Seabird was moved to write the song, and she poured it out on the back of an electric bill in a coffee shop.

“I wrote this song the day Michael Hurley died," Seabird recalls. "It came out all at once on the back of an electric bill. For part of this song, I imagined the perspective of the person who crashed their car through our fence and into our yard a couple weeks before. I wrote this song when I still lived at trash mountain."

"'The Afterglow' is about letting go," she continues, "and the glow that's left after a light has gone, and before a new light has come."

Lightspheres on Their Way is released on 2 October via Lame-O Records
