Lil Nas X announces his comeback single, "J Christ"
Multiplatinum award-winning artist Lil Nas X marks his return with his first single in two years, "J Christ".
Announcing the single on his socials, Lil Nas X wrote: "MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!". The forthcoming release, "J Christ" will be accompanied by Lil Nas X's debut self-directed video.
The next batch of music from Lil Nas X will be the follow-up to his 2021 debut album, Montero. Earlier this year, Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, a documentary film by Carlos López Estrada and Zac Manuel, premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.

Facing backlash for the iconography in the single's artwork, Lil Nas X hit back, reposting a selection of posts defending his artistry, and also writing: "the crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus. Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of shit. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. stfu."
Never one to shy away from online controversy, earlier in the week, he also posted: "i promise to make all my haters no longer want to live this year."
Since he came out as gay, y’all crucify Lil’ Nas X for breathing. I’ve seen more chatter about him being nailed to the cross than when Da Baby recently did it..
