lifepath99 signs to Mtn Laurel Recording Co. and releases debut single, "Misfortune"

"Misfortune", produced by Liam Brand — credited for his work with Zach Bryan and Mount Kimbie — is an introduction to lifepath99's dreamlike mix of pop hooks and spacey electronic textures. “‘Misfortune’ was born of a narrow path I had to walk down every day, and the fear that someone would be lurking there," Vines says of the song. "The broader reality is that many people carry this awareness with them every day, especially in the political climate today. Writing this song became a way to process this fear and take some of that power back; while I can’t change people’s behavior, I can decide how much psychological power I let their presence have over me.”

Discussing how the lifepath99 project came to be, she adds: “lifepath99 started as a way to reinvent how I approached writing music, while also providing an outlet to bring my inner world outward sonically and visually. As I started writing more of the songs, the project as a whole expanded into a way to observe the world and aspects of society from a distance, while each song explores a more personal and surreal experience. The world of lifepath99 sits in a kind of dream-like, escapist state.”

Following the release, lifepath99 will be playing a single release show on 17 September at The Grace, with support from Lifeloose.
