Lido Pimienta shares trailer for new variety show LIDO TV
Polaris Music Prize winner Lido Pimienta has unveiled the trailer for her upcoming variety show LIDO TV, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
LIDO TV is a variety show created and hosted by Pimienta, and will feature a series of "unhinged sketches, interviews, music and documentaries that cover timely topics with humour and heart."
Pitchfork reports that Pimienta said of the variety show in a statement, "What started as an artistic project during the pandemic has grown into something so much more. This is a love letter to a little girl sitting on the branch of a mango tree in Colombia, singing at the top of her lungs while other kids made fun of her for being weird. I'm so grateful to our cast and crew for bringing their talent to every scene, sketch and performance, and I can’t wait for the world to see what we’ve created."
LIDO TV will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September, and will be available on YouTube from 23 September.
