Lewis Capaldi returns with new track, "Survive"

27 June 2025, 12:31 | Written by Tyler Damara Kelly

Lewis Capaldi has made his return after a two-year hiatus with the release of new single, "Survive".

"Survive" sees Lewis Capaldi re-unite with close collaborator Romans, who co-wrote his track "Someone You Loved". Earlier this year, the track went 10x Platinum, making it the UK's most streamed song of all time, and the world's fourth highest ever streamed song.

The new release underscores a challenging period in Lewis Capaldi's career, which ended at Glastonbury 2023 in a tough, but unifying moment. Suffering with the impact of his Tourette's diagnosis, he lost his voice during his performance and relied on the crowd the help him get through the songs.

Following the performance, he announced a hiatus to focus on his physical and mental well-being. At the time, he wrote: "The fact that this probably won't come as a surprise doesn't make it any easier to write, but I'm very sorry to let you know I'm going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future. I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I'd hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out," he said. "But the truth is I'm still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette's and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come."

"Survive" is out now.
