Lava La Rue joins forces with Foster The People on new release, "JET LAGGED"
West London artist Lava La Rue has shared the brand new single, "JET LAGGED", which was co-written with Mark Foster and Isom Innis of Foster The People.
“JET LAGGED is the sonic love child between me and Foster The People,” Lava La Rue shares. “The song was inspired by my adventures as a Londoner touring America – I’d land in a new city and instantly stay out all night to try and beat the jet lag. The delirium from sleep deprivation put me in a euphoric state that made people think I was on something, and it was kind of an inside joke knowing I was the most sober person acting the least sober.”
Written between time zones and continents, "JET LAGGED" began during a late-night studio session in Brixton with Foster The People’s Mark and Isom, who were themselves adjusting to London time. “They were putting me onto 2000s disco punk while fighting their LA body clocks,” Lava La Rue recalls.
The track took on a new life after months of live testing at sweaty, word-of-mouth shows. “I finished the track with my band at Fraser T Smith’s Utopia Studios,” Lava explains. “The final master captures both the original idea with Mark and Isom and the wild energy it had grown into onstage.”
"JET LAGGED" is out now via BMG.
