Lauren Auder announces second album, Whole World as Vigil
London singer, composer, and producer Lauren Auder has revealed the details of her upcoming second album, Whole World as Vigil, and shared new single, "praxis".
Whole World as Vigil follows Lauren Auder's 2023 debut album the infinite spine, with previous single "yes", released last October, serving as her first preview of the upcoming record and her first new music since 2023. "praxis" arrives as the latest look at the new work.
Speaking about the song, Auder shares: “‘praxis' is built around a sample of a power drill cutting through metal, its seemingly perpetual motion and unstoppable movement felt apt to parallel with an important part of my own philosophy, that keeping yourself moving forward, is enough to live for. Musically I was inspired by Steve Reich, Kate Bush and Bruce Springsteen, trying to bring all these worlds together in a way that felt uniquely me."
Whole World as Vigil, mostly written and produced on laptops between Paris and London with collaborators dviance and Alex Parish, draws inspiration from a romantic relationship to expand upon what is described as Auder's "ongoing archive of self".
