Laura Misch delivers a medieval symphony on new single, “Soften”
Laura Misch has shared "Soften", the latest single from her upcoming album, Lithic.
"Soften" follows previous singles “Echoes”, “Kairos”, “Scrolls”, and “Shell”. Inspired by Ruth Allen’s book Weathering, the track combines saxophone from Misch with piano by by Marysia Osu, drums, and a medieval hurdy gurdy symphonia by Thomas Fournil of Idrisi Ensemble.
Speaking about the single, Misch says: “Featuring medieval symphonie, a hurdy-gurdy, droning beneath the surface, this song was partly inspired by a pilgrimage I made to the extraordinary giant balancing stones on Bodmin Moor, called the Cheesewrings. These granite rock formations are a natural geological phenomenon, their edges weathered into softened curves over time through the harshest of storms.”
Lithic is released on 5 June via One Little Independent Records
