Laufey reveals short film for "Goddess"
GRAMMY-winning producer and artist Laufey has revealed a short film for her latest single “Goddess.”
The picture was directed by Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe-nominated and Spirit Award-winning director Celine Song (Past Lives), it stars Laufey alongside William G. Hardy (Netflix’s Heartstopper and Wasia Project), and was shot in Brooklyn, NY on 35mm film.
“It was so special to work with Celine on the ‘Goddess’ short film. She has such a clear vision with her work, which became immediately evident to me while watching Past Lives, and her ideas around ‘Goddess’ harmonised perfectly with the narrative of the song," Laufey explains. "There was immediately a shared understanding that made the partnership so seamless and I feel so lucky to collaborate with someone whose work I admire so much.”
"Goddess" is the lead single from Laufey’s forthcoming release, Bewitched: The Goddess Edition. The expanded edition features four brand-new original songs that Laufey wrote in the wake of finishing her 2023 critically celebrated album Bewitched.
On 16 May Laufey will return to the UK to make her debut at Royal Albert Hall to grace the stage that so many of her favourite artists have played before her, including Rachmaninov, Verdi, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington.
Bewitched: The Goddess Edition, is due for release on 26 April via AWAL. For more information, visit laufeymusic.com.
