Zola Blood announce debut EP
London-based alt. pop foursome Zola Blood (probably no relation to Zola Jesus) are to release their debut EP, titled Meridian, 20 October on Pond Life Songs.
Following an immense upswing, including racking up hundreds of thousands of Soundcloud plays and sell-out debut gig, the quartet have divulged details of their premiere release.
Meridian, recorded in a "windowless" Hackney Wick studio, sees the band, fond of minimalism and electronica, swan into a goldmine of textures. Layers are poured on like post-rock or Foals. Zola Blood are adept are crafting emotive sonic constructions, infusing their passionate sound with thumping bedrock beats, prime cuts of meaty bass and shimmering pools of harmonies. More London shows are expected before the end of the year.
