Yuck pay homage to Elliott Smith with a sunny cover of "Bled White"
Yuck are airing their fuzzed-out take on Elliott Smith's "Bled White" on Best Fit.
The quartet's cover appears on Say Yes! A Tribute To Elliott Smith which is out 14 October via American Laundromat. A huge list of names have contributed brand new covers to the 15-track compilation, including Waxahatchee, J Mascis, Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, Amanda Palmer, and William Fitzsimmons.
"Bled White" has been given the full Yuck treatment, with wiry riffs battling against big slacker-pop chords and drum salvos. It's tinged with their sense of fun and feels lusher than Smith's original, but they don't stray too far - it's the perfect amount of both worlds.
The original version appears on Smith's fourth LP XO, which was released back in 1998.
Yuck's third record Stranger Things is out now via their own Mamé label.
