Details have emerged of video website, Youtube‘s plans to launch an on-demand music service later this year.
The company, owned by Google, are reportedly working on a new service designed for audio-only content and mobile listening. It’s thought that the streaming service will be available on two plans: free and premium.
Billboard say that Google have already secured most of the licenses from U.S. music distributors needed to launch this kind of platform.
Youtube themselves remain coy, however. “We’re always working on new and better ways for people to enjoy YouTube content across all screens, and on giving partners more opportunities to reach their fans,” a spokesman said. “However we have nothing to announce at this time”.
