You can use the new plastic £5 note to play vinyl
Struggling to find a use for those newfangled five pound notes? Well an intrepid vinyl fan has had an ingenious idea.
YouTube user Michael Ridge ("sound artist and pseudoscientist") figured out that with just a few adjustments ("a contact microphone and small amplifier not shown on screen") the polymer fiver will double as a makeshift needle for record players. Of course, he picked out ABBA's "Money, Money, Money" to test this out.
It's far from perfect, but when you're in a jam and you need to jury-rig something, it'll definitely do the trick.
Instead of doing something silly like spending the money, stack 'em up for a rainy, needleless day - just in case. Given the plummeting pound rate, it's probably a better use of the note...
