Yeezus becomes Kanye West's seventh gold album of career
Kanye West’s latest effort, the polarising Yeezus, has finally reached Gold certification status at last, shifting just over 500,000 copies.
The feat, the seventh time West has scored a gold or platinum album in his career, took a bit longer than anticipated, after selling 327,000 units in its opening week alone.
After such a high-selling first week, Yeezus experienced the fourth largest second-week decline in sales history, but has been selling a steady amount since.
Despite its low airplay and Kanye himself declaring that he made an album not to be played on the radio, Yeezus will still see a single released from it in the form of ‘Black Skinhead’. West will perform that at this year’s MTV VMA Awards at the end of the month.
The album’s already-iconic artwork is below:
- Winter joins forces with Horse Jumper of Love on new single, "Misery"
- Watch Speedy Wunderground-signed experimentalists O. live in session
- Bicep collaborate with indigenous artists on new project, TAKKUUK
- Noah Cyrus details second album, I WANT MY LOVED ONES TO GO WITH ME
- Just Mustard return with first release in three years, "POLLYANNA"
- Glass Animals unveil "Take A Slice" visualiser
- Baxter Dury joins forces with JGrrey on new track, "Return of the Sharp Heads"
