"Wonderwall" tops Best Of British list, three other Oasis songs in Top Five

The Oasis frontman apparently also said: "Every time I sing it I want to gag..."

Brother Noel (pictured above) was somewhat happier, saying to Radio X: “What can I say? The people have spoken. The fact that there wasn’t one single Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds song in the Top 20 makes think the whole thing is a mockery of an unreliable sham! Saying that though I'm thrilled. Thanks for voting."

Radio X ran the poll, which collected 50,000 votes in the search for the Best British Song Of All Time.

"Don't Look Back In Anger", "Champagne Supernova", and "Live Forever" are second, third, and fourth, with The Stone Roses' "I Am The Resurrection" rounding off the Top 5. Classic acts such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, plus newer names such as The Arctic Monkeys and Elbow, also make the Top 20.

Only one woman - Pulp's Candida Doyle - features on the entire list.
