Music Week have teamed up with UK Music, AIM and Nordoff Robbins to launch the Women In Music Awards, with an event set for this November.
Celebrating 30 of the most influential women working in the music industry, a ceremony will take place at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington on 14 November. Categories of awards will include: Outstanding Achievement, Media Pioneer, Creative Inspiration, Rising Star and Campaigner.
You can nominate potential recipients by sending an email to: womeninmusic@intentmedia.co.uk.
The announcement has so far evoked much debate online over the relevance over such an award, with some commentators describing them as “needless and harmful segregation”. You can read a Guardian article on the matter here.
