Kendal band Wild Beasts have unveiled new video ‘Albatross’. It will be the first single released from the band’s third album Smother, which will be released on May 9.
It is a largely monochrome video, which seems to reflect the feeling of sparcity in the song.
The slight feeling of uneasiness, and the unwillingness of the camera to make eye contact give the impression that you are witness to reminisence of some dark repressed group memory. Everything feels like an image for the delicate tone of Hayden Thorpe’s falsetto – the single dancer, her naked feet, the bare dark tree branches.
The single is available to download now, with a special 7 inch version released in selected record shops on April 16 for Record Store day.
