Weezer's Rivers Cuomo wrote a song for The Monkees, and it's pretty great
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo is one of many names helping pen new material for pop legends The Monkees.
Cuomo's "She Makes Me Laugh" is a taste of the '60s icons' upcoming LP Good Times - it'll be the first from the band in 20 years.
It's peppy, springy, and full of summery hooks. It's a vintage paean to love, with references to Scrabble and going on safari, with a few surprisingly gnarled licks and some doo-wop coos.
Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, XTC's Andy Partidge, and Rogue Waves' Zach Schwartz are also contributing to the songwriting side, while Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger is on production duties.
Good Times is out 10 June on Rhino.
