Watch the trailer for The 405's Icelandic documentary, Tónlist, featuring Múm, Ásgeir and more
The 405 are releasing a documentary about Icelandic music at this year's Iceland Airwaves festival. It's called Tónlist - which literally translates to "sound art".
Film makers Stevan Bevan and Tim Boddy have created the film in association with The 405.
The film will feature interviews and performances from Ólafur Arnalds, Ásgeir, Snorri Helgason, múm, Ólöf Arnalds and more. Tónlist seeks to discover why the culture and lifestyle of Iceland make such great music. In their announcement, they provided further insight into the film:
"Rather than a purely 'dry' look at the festival, the documentary explores a deeper understanding of the Icelandic psyche - and delves into the culture and society of the nation itself (though often drawing parallels back to the festival and how the Icelandic spirit makes for such a remarkable five day experience)."
It was shot during (and in the aftermath of) Iceland Airwaves 2013, and will be premiered at Bíó Paradís in Reykjavik during Iceland Airwaves 2014, on 5 November at 2pm. It will air again at 2pm 6 November, and The 405 and director will be present for the second showing. Both showings are free.
