The Weeknd’s new album Kiss Land may sound like the sappiest thing in the world, but what hides beneath the title and packaging is actually something quite dark; ground-shaking production encapsulating some rather morally ambiguous lyrics. And then there’s this new video for one of its tracks, ‘Pretty’.
Fitting with the record’s theme of “wanderlust” and sexually violent imagery, the clip sees R&B lothario playing a spurned lover-come-hitman, hunting down both his former flame and her newly-acquainted love interest. As you can see from the above image, it doesn’t end well.
