Despite a mammoth year for the Detroit/Minneapolis/Houston rap sensation, Melissa Jefferson - AKA Lizzo - is still flying slightly under the radar.
Her performances are electric bouts of pure charisma and unadulterated hip-hop talent. Her compositions veer between OutKast wit, Houston oomph and the lyrical intesity of Detroit's twang, all bundled together with Lizzo's signature rhythms, topics and unmatchable ambition. In short, she's great.
Now, hopefully, like that performance for Future Islands, Lizzo can springboard into the global spotlight with her Letterman stint. Watch her drop a banger from Lizzobangers (her debut LP), titled "Bus Passes and Happy Meals".
