Watch: Joe Goddard ft Valentina – Gabriel

Hot Chip are one of those curious bands that have become something of a national treasure without actually selling that many records. On reflection, their influence is actually pretty huge; they were, I suspect, responsible for teaching thousands of indie kids that sequencers and samplers could be as cool as guitars.

Erstwhile Chipper Joe Goddard now has a new solo project, of which ‘Gabriel’ is the first track. It’s an unashamedly histrionic piece of UK funky, with vocals courtesy of the excellent Valentina. Plus the video is a bit like an extended Rorschach test.
