Watch Hamilton Leithauser cover Will Oldham’s “Trudy Dies”
The Walkman singer, and solo artist, Hamilton Leithauser has revealed a video for a cover of Will Oldham’s “Trudy Dies”. The performance, which was recorded last month for Toronto radio station Indie88, was part of a Collective Arts Black Box Session.
The cover is an empassioned croon of a rare B-side by Oldham (better known as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy), who recorded the song under his Palace Brothers moniker over twenty years ago.
Leithauser explained: “I’ve never met the guy - I don’t know him at all - but it seems like he makes the record he wants to make and he lives his own life in a way that I think, from an outsider’s perspective, looks like a pretty appealing way to go about doing business.”
