Watch rising French songwriter Norma channel The Kills in "Lost & Found"
With an assumed likeness to Fiona Apple and Chrissie Hynde, Norma delivers powerful rock songs nodding to The Kills and Pixies.
Riding on the back of a primetime TV appearance in France, the '70s rock buff is releasing her first EP Badlands today. Recorded on tape at the Black Box studio in France (which has seen the likes of Anna Calvi and The Kills), the EP is a tight collection of riff-heavy tracks inhabited by the Frenchwoman's many influences whilst having a soul of their own.
It's in the heady melodies that Norma shines the brightest, as demonstrated in "Lost & Found", which starts as an almost childlike ballad on the piano, and quickly ascends to head-swinging heights.
After a classic - in the best sense - guitar solo, the song ends on a glorious rhythm-heavy final, reminiscent of a The Wall-era Pink Floyd.
